american raves

This is the first of a series of posts about the differences between EDM events in the US vs. the rest of the world. This first post takes us across the Pacific to Australia.

A little over a month ago, I was chatting with my Australian roommate Amalina in the kitchen of our flat in Barcelona when I excitedly told her that I had started blogging for iHeartRaves. I told her that it was a site about rave culture and lifestyle.

American Rave Customs That Should Be Exported

After attending EDM events outside of the US for the past year and a half, I have to say that I still prefer American raves. While you can find great music, cool vibes, and friendly people all over the world, there are certain distinctively American traditions lacking abroad that I love.  Flying into the States from Barcelona to attend EDC the past weekend, my feelings of nostalgia have been infinitely reinforced! Starbucks, McDonalds, Katy Perry… Almost everything about American culture has already been exported to the rest of the world, and now I’d love to see some American rave traditions catch on abroad!
