Whether you are getting to a rave by plane, train, or a magical flying unicorn when it comes to luggage, less is definitely more! The less luggage you have, the less you have to worry about losing your stuff and the less you have to carry and keep track of. As an avid festival goer, I’ve picked up a few tricks that will help you travel lighter, easier and more efficiently and I’m happy to share them with you.
Roll Don’t Fold: Most people fold their clothes when putting them into their luggage, but you actually get way more space in your bag if you roll them up instead! It’s even better if you put your outfits for each day together and roll the whole outfit up as one big roll, place each outfit roll in the bag and voilà! Rolling your clothes keeps everything neat, crease and wrinkle free, and leaves more space in your bag for other items.
Shoe Space Is Extra Space: Always pack your shoes at the bottom of your luggage, and place any small extra items inside of your shoes! You can put things like lotions, sunscreen or toothpaste in there and it saves so much space! Or you can place really small items like hair pins and jewelry inside a zip lock bag and place that inside your shoes. Also see which other items you can pack together in your bag to save room. For instance, you can wrap your hair ties around the handle of your brush or see what else can fit in your make up bag. Utilize all the space you have with the every item you are bringing!
Pack Accordingly: If you are only going to be somewhere for the weekend, you probably don’t need to take a whole months worth of hair gel, or a big tube of lotion. Buy all the travel size toiletries and other items that you can! If you can’t find the item that you want in travel size, buy the small travel size bottles and containers to put you lotions and stuff in. Make sure to label everything so you don’t get confused on what’s in each bottle. You’ll be able to reuse these bottles and refill them as needed. Only pack for the amount of time you will be there. If you’ve planned your outfits for the weekend, be sure to pack what you’ll wear last at the bottom of your bag. That way, you won’t have to pull everything out to find a particular item and your outfits are all ready for you to rock.
Wear As Much As you Can: While you are getting to your destination, wear as many of the items you are taking on your body as you can! Wear your sunglasses, wear your hat, tie your sweater around your waist, wear all your kandi on your wrists, wear your bulkiest shoes on your feet. The more you wear on your body on the way over there, the less you have to pack and carry in your bag.
Find Out What Is Already There: Most hotels have a little shop where they sell all kinds of products inside or have a convenience store within walking distance that will have everything you need. If there are a few items you would rather buy while you are there, then this is a great space saving option! This is especially great if you are like me and have had some bad luck with lotions and other creams or gels like that busting open in your bag and ruining all your stuff inside. Instead of buying certain items at home, look into what stores are inside or near where your destination so you don’t have to pack these things.
These packing tips will help you pack lighter and more efficient! The main goal is to have a great time, so let these tips help you to make your bag packing experience way easier! Have fun and don’t forget to also pack your good vibes!
